Affordances and Limitations of Quercus (Canvas) Rubrics

  • Use the Range option to allow for grading on a scale of values vs. writing comments
  • Use for grading for Assignments and Discussions.
  • Add a rubric to an Assignment, Discussion or Quiz (Note: A rubric cannot use a rubric to grade a quiz, it can only be used to provide feedback for a quiz).
  • Selecting a rubric "box" when grading will give the student the highest possible points for that section
  • The rubric grade is not updated when grades are imported into the Gradebook using a CSV file
  • There is no way to download completed rubrics from the SpeedGrader. If you wish to retain a copy for longer than 1 year after the course has ended, you must take a screen shot of each student's rubric.
  • Must click on the Save button to save the grading you have done using the rubric.  Then select Submit.
