This workshop provides basic information about digital images (file formats, file naming, resolution needed for printing versus PPT presentations, organizing image collections, downloading), copyright issues (fair dealing, creative commons, and public domain), citing and referencing images (style guides), search engines specifically for finding images on the web (advanced Google image searching), and some basic resources at the University of Toronto (FADIS, ArtStor).
This workshop will introduce the basics of working with digital images: finding sources, file naming, file types, storage, preservation and long-term sustainability issues, as well as, ethical and copyright issues. Copyright issues will be addressed concerning academic studies, assignments, public vs. creative common sites, publishing and professional work.

Most important, you will start seeing why this initially confusing style may have been chosen.
