Digital Image Basics 1

This workshop provides basic information about digital images (file formats, file naming, resolution needed for printing versus PPT presentations, organizing image collections, downloading), copyright issues (fair dealing, creative commons, and public domain), citing and referencing images (style guides), search engines specifically for finding images on the web (advanced Google image searching), and some basic resources at the University of Toronto (FADIS, ArtStor).

This makes them great primary and secondary sources! In this workshop, you’ll learn when it’s appropriate to use social media content in your research, hacks to find the best accounts and content for your topic, and how to integrate them into your assignments in different citation styles.

The Basics of Chicago Style Citations Session 5

Your professor requires you to cite using the Chicago Style for the upcoming paper. Do not panic! After this session you will be comfortable asking about “which” Chicago style (Author-Date OR Notes-Bibliography), and how to format basic in-text citations and bibliography entries. Most important, you will start seeing why this initially confusing style may have been chosen.
