Summary

Interested in allowing your students remote access to software using their own devices to support academic course activities?  UTM's web-based learning platform provides remote access to computer programs such as ArcGIS, ERDAS, ENVI, SPSS, and MATLAB from virtually anywhere in the world. The platform is hosted on campus servers maintained by UTM I&ITS, and allows any University of Toronto faculty/staff/student with a computer and internet connection, to login to the platform using their UTORid and password to gain access to discipline-specific computer software programs.

The UTM Department of Geography has piloted a program to integrate this platform into undergraduate courses with a computer lab component allowing students to work remotely on course-related assignments. The platform provides the flexibility for students to work in alternate environments, to avoid commuting to campus solely to access physical computer labs, and to increase student confidence and proficiency with computer-based programs by allowing unlimited access.

This seminar will share instructional resources, student feedback about the platform, and future directions of this program. This workshop would be useful for those interested in integrating this platform into their own courses, or for faculty needing access to specific programs while traveling.

If you are available and would like to attend, please register at the link below. Coffee and lunch will be provided.
