Library 101 Registration

To complete the Library 101 certificate program, you will need to attend FIVE sessions of your choosing. Attendance is tracked by online registration and online attendance. Certificates are signed by the Chief Librarian and awarded at the end of March 2021. Participants will be notified by email if they are eligible to receive a certificate.

Digital Image Basics
This workshop provides basic information about digital images (file formats, file naming, resolution needed for printing versus PPT presentations, organizing image collections, downloading), copyright issues (fair dealing, creative commons, and public domain), citing and referencing images (style guides), search engines specifically for finding images on the web (advanced Google image searching), and some basic resources at the University of Toronto (FADIS, ArtStor).
Introduction to LibrarySearch
The University of Toronto Libraries is introducing a new search system called LibrarySearch. Join us to learn how to discover books, e-books, journal articles, and more for your research, teaching, and learning. Participants will learn how to navigate the new search interface including how to use new features to access full text, to create citations, and to save your searches, and how to use advanced searching features like Boolean operators.
Navigating Quercus - Tips for Students
Learn how to navigate your Quercus courses and customize your Quercus settings.  During this session we also will share tips and techniques to successfully upload your assignments, take quizzes in Quercus, and much more. 
Research Data 101
Looking for research data for your assignments? Don't know what to do when you have some research data? We will cover effective strategies for finding research data and the best ways to save and visualize your data. Data citation tips will also be discussed in the workshop.

Need to make a poster to show off your research? Presenting your poster to classmates or at a conference? We will cover step-by-step instructions and best practices for poster-making using Powerpoint.
